What’s on at St Peter’s Church Today!

Want to know who taught Colin Hanton how to jive? Then you need to read his book! He and co-author Colin Hall will be at St Peter’s Church Hall today from 10.30am for a book-signing!
The Church Hall is open from 10.30am to 2.30pm.  You can also visit the Church (from 10am), and the playing field where the Quarrymen performed on July 6 1957 (Bishop Martin Summer Fete from 12.30pm!!)

St Peter’s Church Hall Celebrates the 61st Anniversary of the Day John Met Paul!

It was 61 years ago …

In 2018, St Peter’s Church hosted a five-day music festival celebrating the 60th anniversary of the day that John met Paul!  Although we can’t promise quite the same thing this year, we will be opening the Church Hall to visitors, in honour of the 61st anniversary of that special day, on Saturday July 7.  The hall will be open from 10.30am until 2.30pm, entrance is free and everyone is welcome!

The Quarrymen in St Peter’s Church Hall, July 6, 2017

Quarryman Colin Hanton will be joining us in the Hall for part of the day, with copies of his new book!  Although signed copies are available online (click HERE to buy), this is your chance to get a personalised copy!  The full range of exclusive St Peter’s merchandise will also be for sale.

Visitors will also have a rare opportunity to visit Bishop Martin School, which now stands on the land where the Church fete was held on July 6, 1957!  The school is holding its Summer Fun Day on Saturday from 12.30pm until 4pm.  Entry is only £1.00!

A splendid time is guaranteed for all!

Relive the 60th Anniversary of the Day that John Met Paul at St Peter’s Church, Woolton!

Those of you who attended our anniversary celebrations last July may have noticed Marie Dixson of The Next Time Photography hard at work at all the events.  She took several thousand photos on behalf of St Peter’s and these are now ready for publication!

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be posting the anniversary photos from the anniversary on this website, and reliving all five days of our Celebration of Community!

Photos may be downloaded and shared but please do NOT remove the credit/watermark from the photos.  (Please note that photos have been compressed prior to uploading to the website; full quality, high resolution images are available to purchase on request.)

As a taster of what’s to come, here’s one of our favourite photos of three of our favourite men — Rod Davies, Len Garry and Colin Hanton of the Quarrymen!

We thought you might like to know that the Quarrymen are appearing in Liverpool at the Royal Philharmonic Hall on Monday afternoon, 15 Jan, on a special concert in aid of the famous Liverpool charity – The League of Welldoers. The gig starts at 2pm. Also on the bill are Mike Byrne and the Sunrockers plus a load more Merseyside entertainers so one way or another you should be in for a fun afternoon!

Tickets cost £12.00 and can be obtained from the League of Welldoers on 0151 207 1984 or directly from the Philharmonic by clicking HERE!

  • Rest of world – £32.00 or £27.00 Child

**  NB:  If you would like to collect your t-shirt in person from St Peter’s Church, the cost will be £20 per adult t-shirt or £15 per child’s t-shirt.  Please make a note stating that you will collect when placing your order, or email beatlesatstpeters@gmail.com to confirm

Please ensure that you state the size required when placing your order!

The t-shirts are Unisex in style and only available in black.  However, there is a choice of colour for the design.  Our idea was to link the 60th anniversary of the day that John met Paul with the 50th anniversary of the launch of Sgt Pepper.  The colour print on the t-shirts has therefore been chosen to represent the colour of the Beatles’ Pepper suits as closely as possible.  Although only colours that symbolised ‘John’ and ‘Paul’ were available to buy in the Church Hall for the 60th anniversary, we are going to include colours for ‘George’ and ‘Ringo’ available for the special orders.

Please ensure that you state the print colour that you require when placing your order!

  • ‘John’ = yellow/green
  • ‘Paul’ = blue
  • ‘George’ = red/orange
  • ‘Ringo’ = pink
